Luigi Mangione, who is charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is fighting extradition and was denied bail on Tuesday, during a hearing at Blair County Court House in Pennsylvania.

Mangione who was identified as a person of interest in the investigation earlier Monday, has been formally charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a firearm.

New York authorities are attempting to extradite Mangione back to Manhattan to face the charges. Thompson was fatally shot last week in New York City, sparking a manhunt that lasted days.

Mangione's legal team will now have two weeks to request a writ of habeas corpus, which would prompt a hearing on the matter. Pennsylvania authorities said they will help New York get the extradition approved, CNN reported. He will remain at Huntingdon State Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania without bail in the meantime.

Mangione, who is 26-years-old, comes from a prominent Maryland family, according to the Associated Press, and one of his cousins is a Republican Maryland state legislator named Nino Mangione.
