The individual accused of shooting two state lawmakers in Minnesota and their spouses was indicted by a grand jury on six federal charges Tuesday. 

Vance Boelter is facing murder and stalking charges for allegedly murdering former Minnesota Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark last month.

“The ultimate decision as to whether to seek the death penalty will not come for several months,” acting U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said, according to The Hill. 

Boelter also faces stalking charges for allegedly stalking state Sen. John Hoffman, who he also allegedly shot in June along with Hoffman's wife, who was also injured in the shooting that same morning. 

Prosecutors additionally indicted Boelter on two firearms offenses, one for each shooting. The charges carry up to life in prison, and he separately faces state-level charges.
