Michigan prosecutors on Friday claimed former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore allegedly threatened to kill himself during Wednesday's home invasion of a woman with whom he had been having an affair.

Moore, who is married with three young daughters, was arrested Wednesday on an accusation of assault in Pittsfield Township, hours after he was fired by the university for an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. He has been charged with home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering.

Kati Rezmierski, first assistant prosecutor for Washtenaw County, claimed the alleged victim had been in a years-long affair with the 39-year-old Moore before breaking it off on Monday. The defendant responded to the break-up by "making numerous phone calls and sending numerous texts," before storming into her home on Wednesday, according to NBC News

During the home invasion, Moore allegedly grabbed two butter knives and a pair of scissors and threatened to kill himself, according to police. He eventually left after the woman called her lawyer and said she would call the police.

"I'm going to kill myself," the prosecutor told the court, quoting the defendant’s alleged words. "I'm going to make you watch, my blood is on your hands. You ruined my life."

A judge Friday granted Moore $25,000 bail, ordered him to wear a GPS monitor and stay away from the victim. He was released from jail sometime Friday.

Moore's defense attorney said his client has already undergone a mental health evaluation, but does not object to other psychological evaluations.
