Ex-Proud Boy leader Tarrio had doc with plans to storm other Capitol Hill building on Jan. 6, report
Document does not specifically mention Jan. 6 attack; Who gave Tarrio document remains unclear
Federal prosecutors reportedly have a document that was in the possession of former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio that included a detailed plan to storm other, nearby government buildings on the same day as the Capitol riot last year.
The existence of the document – titled "1776 Returns" – is being reported by The New York Times, based on information people gave the newspaper Monday.
Prosecutors referred to the document last week in charging Tarrio with conspiracy. But those familiar with it reportedly have provided additional details including a plan to occupy six House and Senate office buildings and the Supreme Court on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6, 2021.
However, the document does not specifically mention the attack on the Capitol building. It remains unclear who gave Tarrio the document.
Prosecutors have not accused Tarrio of using the document to direct the actions of the Proud Boys extremist group, whose members participated or allegedly participated in the riot. There also appears to be no evidence so far that Tarrio shared the document with his five Jan. 6 co-defendants, the newspaper also reports.
