Ricky Martin files $20m lawsuit against nephew over allegations of incestuous sexual harassment
Singer has previously claimed that nephew is struggling with mental health issues.
Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin this week filed a massive lawsuit against his nephew over the latter's accusations against him of an incestuous relationship and sexual harassment.
Martin has strongly denied the claims from 21-year-old Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, who the singer alleges is struggling with mental health issues. Sanchez retracted his claims in July, successfully petitioning a judge to drop a temporary restraining order he had lodged against Martin.
Yet now Martin has hit Sanchez with a $20 million lawsuit, alleging that the claims caused "damage to [his reputation]" after he had "enjoyed an impeccable reputation earned through his long artistic and altruistic career for the last almost 40 years of his life."
The singer's attorneys claimed in the filing that "the situation has continued despite the defendant voluntarily withdrawing from an action he had commenced against Plaintiff based on falsehoods, during which he admitted under oath that he had never been sexually assaulted by Plaintiff."
The filing alleges abuse of rights, extortion and malicious prosecution.
