Tea Party Patriots Action files complaint against Judge Reinhart over Trump raid warrant
Reinhart recused himself from a civil suit between Trump and Clinton involving the now-debunked Russian collusion scandal
Tea Party Patriots Action announced on Wednesday that it had filed a complaint against Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart for approving the FBI search of former President Donald Trump's Florida estate, despite an alleged conflict of interest.
Reinhart approved the search in early August and has since ordered the Department of Justice to release the warrant's accompanying affidavit in part.
The complaint alleges that Reinhart had a “conflict of interest and a pattern and history of hostility to President Trump.”
“Judge Reinhart acted unethically in approving the warrant to search President Trump’s residence," said Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin. "Judge Reinhart is a Democrat who donated to former President Obama. The judge publicly denigrated former President Trump in social media posts."
"Just two months ago, he recused himself from a lawsuit involving President Trump in his suit against Hillary Clinton, citing a ‘conflict of interest,'" she continued. In June of this year, Reinhart recused himself from a civil suit filed by Trump against Clinton and other Democrats over the now-debunked Russia collusion scandal.
"He should be disciplined and removed as a federal magistrate," Martin asserted. "The entire episode involving the search of former President Trump’s home threatens the principle of ‘equal justice under law’ and the confidence of the American people in an unbiased judiciary.”
