Texas sued the Biden administration on Thursday, saying its response to the migrant surge at the border has violated federal rules for the pandemic and jeopardized public safety.

"By causing an influx of aliens who are or might be infected with COVID into the United States, Defendants' unlawful actions imperil the public health of Texas and the United States, and weaken the ability of the economies of Texas and the United States to recover, through reopening, from the effects of the pandemic," the suit says.

There have been more than 570,000 coronavirus fatalities so far in the U.S. and more than 3 million worldwide, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
