Biden nominates Deputy Labor Secretary Su to lead agency

President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced that he is nominating Deputy Labor Secretary Julie Su to lead the department after Marty Walsh stepped down earlier this month.
"I respectfully ask the Senate to take up this nomination quickly so that we can finish the job for America’s workers," Biden said in making the announcement, weeks after Walsh left the agency to become the executive director of the NHL Players' Association.
Su, who previously worked as the California state labor secretary, was approved for her current position in a 50-47 Senate vote in 2021.
