The Senate on Thursday confirmed Brooke Rollins as the country's next Agriculture Department secretary.

Twenty-eight Democrats in the 100-member chamber vote in favor of the President Trump nominee, which showed strong bipartisan support for her to run the agency.

Rollins is a former domestic policy adviser to Trump and was the president of America First Policy Institute.

"Brooke’s commitment to support the American Farmer, defense of American Food Self-Sufficiency, and the restoration of Agriculture-dependent American Small Towns is second to none," Trump said in an emailed statement when he selected her for the position in November of last year.

She grew up on a farm and graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in agriculture development. Rollins is also the former leader of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative think tank.
