U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents caught and arrested a carjacking suspect as part of the federal effort to crack down on crime in Washington, D.C.

"Today while making D.C. safe and beautiful, CBP agents received a call of a carjacking in progress," CBP posted on X on Monday. "Agents immediately responded to the area and stopped the fleeing suspect. The suspect was arrested and will be charged with multiple criminal offenses. CBP will continue to support all presidential executive orders and assure DC is safe again."

FBI Director Kash Patel said Monday that federal agents have made more than 1,000 arrests in Washington, D.C., since President Donald Trump started the federal takeover of the capital earlier this month.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro told Fox News on Monday, "D.C. was one of the most violent cities in the world, and but for President Trump coming in and bringing in our federal partners… we’ve got a unified force of people and law enforcement who are going into the crime-ridden areas and making a difference."
