The Department of Defense said Wednesday that the U.S. has officially accepted a luxury jet from Qatar to use as Air Force One.

"The secretary of defense has accepted a Boeing 747 from Qatar in accordance with all federal rules and regulations," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told ABC News in a statement.

"The Department of Defense will work to ensure proper security measures and functional-mission requirements are considered for an aircraft used to transport the president of the United States," he also said

The deal that President Trump made with Qatar regarding the jet, reportedly worth $400 million, will allow him to temporarily replace the 40-year-old Air Force One and keep it as part of his presidential library.
