The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday posted a notice that FBI Director Kash Patel will testify in front of the panel next week. 

The hearing is part of the committee's oversight of the bureau and comes as the Trump administration faces renewed bipartisan scrutiny over its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. The notice did not cite an exact reason for the hearing.

Patel's testimony is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 9 a.m. in the Hart Senate Office Building. He is also scheduled to testify in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, Sept. 17, per Politico.

House Republicans on the Oversight Committee released a trove of files related to Epstein on Monday, which included a birthday book that the Wall Street Journal claims includes a message from President Donald Trump. The White House has denied that Trump signed the book.
