The FBI confirmed that it has picked the head of the bureau's New York Field Office, Christopher Raia, as deputy director, replacing Dan Bongino.

Raia helped lead the response to the deadly truck attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day last year, then was tapped to run the New York office in April after having served as a top counterterrorism official at FBI headquarters, The Hill news outlet reported. He is a former Coast Guard officer and joined the FBI in 2003.

The new deputy director has investigated violent crime, drugs and gangs, and overseen counterterrorism and national security investigations during his tenure at the FBI.

Raia will be a co-deputy director, alongside former Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey.

Bongino announced Monday that he will be reviving his podcast and video show on Rumble beginning Feb. 2.
