A helicopter carrying three National Guardsmen and a Border Patrol agent crashed in Texas along the U.S.-Mexico border, killing three people and injuring one, according to a county official.

The fourth person is in critical condition, said Starr County Judge Eloy Vera, the county’s top local official, the Associated Press reported

The crash occurred near the small town of La Grulla in Starr County, said Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Christopher Olivarez. The town is in the Rio Grande Valley. One woman and three men were aboard the helicopter, according to Vera.

The Starr County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook on Friday that it was “assisting with a downed helicopter incident.”

Vera said that the sheriff’s office secured the scene and that federal officials were en route.
