A new immigrant detention facility in Louisiana may begin receiving illegal-immigrant families with children, local officials and advocates for illegal immigrants say.

The 528-bed facility will house families with children, as well as unaccompanied minors and signed adult females, as they await removal. The facility is located inside a renovated Air Force barracks at England Airpark in Alexandria, ABC News reported, citing a draft agreement between ICE and England Economic and Industrial Development District.

A communications manager with the district told ABC News the facility could start receiving people in a week or two.

The facility would be the second constructed to house children by the second Trump administration, but it will be the first to hold unaccompanied minors. They are typically held in shelters operated by the Department of Health and Human Services before their deportation or release.
