Multiple Secret Service agents have been placed on leave by the agency amid the ongoing investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump last month at a Pennsylvania campaign rally, according to news reports Friday.

CBS News reports the head of the agency's Pittsburgh field office has been placed on leave.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi has not confirmed whether the agents are on leave but said the service's "mission assurance review is progressing, and we are examining the processes, procedures and factors that led to this operational failure."
