Trump taps Kelly Loeffler to head Small Business Administration
"Small Businesses are the backbone of our Great Economy. Kelly will bring her experience in business and Washington to reduce red tape, and unleash opportunity for our Small Businesses to grow, innovate, and thrive," Trump said.
President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday night nominated former Georgia GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler to lead the Small Business Administration (SBA) in his second administration.
The former president has spent the past month filling out critical roles in his next administration. He has already announced his Cabinet nominees, which includes two Fox hosts and several allies such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Loeffler, who briefly represented Georgia in the Senate from 2020 to 2021, helped raise funds for Trump during his recent presidential campaign. She also has 25 years of experience in the financial sector, Trump lauded.
"I am very pleased to nominate business leader and former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler, from the Great State of Georgia, to serve as Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA)," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "Small Businesses are the backbone of our Great Economy. Kelly will bring her experience in business and Washington to reduce red tape, and unleash opportunity for our Small Businesses to grow, innovate, and thrive."
Trump claimed the former senator will also crackdown on waste, fraud, and regulatory overreach within the agency.
"A strong believer in the 'American Dream,' Kelly was raised as the fourth generation to work on her family’s farm, and the first in her family to attend college," Trump continued. "For the last four years, Kelly has worked tirelessly to help restore Election Integrity, diverse outreach, and voter registration in Georgia through her nonprofit, Greater Georgia."
The incoming president said Loeffler will also serve as the co-chair of his inaugural committee. Trump will be sworn into office on Jan. 20.
