Ramaswamy to debate Libertarian vice presidential debate winner at national convention

Billionaire entrepreneur and former Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy will debate the winner of the Libertarian Party's vice presidential poll at its national convention later this month.

The convention in Washington D.C. will host a vice presidential debate for all of its VP candidates earlier in the convention, and the winner of that debate will face off against Ramaswamy on Friday, May 24, the party said in a news release shared with Just the News.

The Ramaswamy debate will focus on the question: “How to best dismantle the Administrative State?” and the former presidential candidate will deliver remarks after the debate. 

“This is an incredible opportunity for our candidates. I hope they’re sharpening their skills in anticipation of this debate,” Libertarian National Committee Chair Angela McArdle said in a statement. “We’re excited to host this epic battle and to hear from Vivek afterwards. Our national convention is shaping up to be the biggest political event of the year.”

Former president and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Independent presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr., will also be at the convention during the last weekend of May. Trump will speak on Saturday, May 25. 

Kennedy recently challenged Trump to his own debate at the convention, but it is not clear which day the debate would occur on, because they speak on different days. Kennedy said he has already received approval for the debate from the convention's staff. Trump has not responded to the challenge, but was hoping to debate President Joe Biden before the first official presidential debate on Sept. 16.

Ramaswamy has been rumored as a possible pick for Trump's vice president, but he is more likely under consideration for a cabinet position, or an important role Trump's administration, according to NBC News.
