Texas Gov Abbott cancels NRA appearance Friday, will return to Uvalde, site of school shooting

Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott will skip Friday's National Rifle Association convention in Houston and instead make a return trip to Uvalde, the town in which a gunman Tuesday killed 19 children and two teachers inside the Robb Elementary School.

Abbott was scheduled to speak in person but instead recorded video remarks that will be shown at the NRA event, a spokesman for the governor Thursday night told NBC News.
