The U.S. Navy is investigating what is reported to be four separate suicides at the same naval facility within the span of four weeks.

The Navy confirmed to CNN that the deaths occurred at the Norfolk, Va., Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center.

"It is with a heavy heart we can confirm that four Sailors assigned to the [Norfolk facility] have died in the last month," a Navy spokesman told the network.

"The circumstances surrounding these separate incidents are currently under investigation by local police departments and the U.S. Navy," he said.

The Navy said it is "taking a proactive approach to support the team, improve mental fitness, and manage the stress of its Sailors" at the facility.
