Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., says that the only way House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy becomes the next House Speaker is if he gets Democrat support.

House Republicans are debating who they want as the next House Speaker with McCarthy getting the nomination but lacking the 218 votes so far needed. Biggs is mounting his own challenge and is one of five Republicans who have declared they won't supporting McCarthy.

"The next question is is Mr. McCarthy willing to cross the aisle and try to recruit Democrats to vote for him for speaker?" Biggs asked on the Friday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" television show.

"That would that push people off to say, 'look, we don't want someone who's a compromised speaker. We want someone who's going to be a Republican speaker,'" he added.

Biggs said he personally will not support McCarthy for Speaker under any circumstance.

"In all scenarios, everybody who votes would have to vote and hope that Kevin performs with whatever promises he has made to those individuals," Biggs stated. "For me, that's just simply not good enough."
