Authorities thwarted an alleged attempt to free Luigi Mangione from prison on Wednesday and a man is in custody in connection to the incident.

Mark Anderson allegedly impersonated an FBI agent and arrived at the facility holding Mangione, asserting that a judge had ordered his release, Business Insider reported.

Mangione stands accused of assassinating UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson in late 2024. He has since developed a cult following among left-wing activists and critics of the healthcare establishment.

Anderson apparently arrived at the facility armed with a pizza cutter.
