Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas denies responsibility for illegal alien killing Maryland mom
"A criminal is responsible for the criminal act," Mayorkas said.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas denied any responsibility for the illegal alien recently charged for killing a Maryland mother of five.
During an interview with CNN, Mayorkas was asked, "We know that studies show that undocumented immigrants don't commit more crimes statistically than native born U.S. citizens, but what do you say to critics who blame the administration for allowing this to happen?"
Mayorkas went on to respond with, "First and foremost....our hearts break for the children, the families, the loved ones [and] the friends of the individual who was murdered.........the mother."
He continued by saying, "A criminal is responsible for the criminal act. The criminal who committed this heinous act should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and forcefully so. That is my response."
An illegal alien from El Salvador, Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, 23, was charged in connection to the murder of the Maryland mother of five, Rachel Morin, earlier this month.
He was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a crime spree that began in El Salvador and continued in multiple cities across the United States, police said.
Republican lawmakers have criticized the Biden administration's border policies and have blamed Mayorkas for not taking more action to close the southern border.
