The House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday is holding a hearing titled, "Failure by Design: Examining Secretary Mayorkas’ Border Crisis," to examine the Biden administration's policies and their effects on the illegal migration at the southern border.

Chairman Mark Green, a Tennessee Republican, will lead the field hearing in McAllen, Texas, focusing on "how the crisis at the Southwest border is a direct result of Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas’ failure to enforce the laws of our country," the committee said

House Democrats are boycotting the hearing, which is set to feature testimony from Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Assistant Director Steven Cagen, Texas Department of Public Safety Director Col. Steven McCraw, Kinney County, Texas, Sheriff Brad Coe and National Border Patrol Council Vice President Chris Cabrera.

The hearing, scheduled for 10:15 a.m. ET, comes as Customs and Border Protection has recorded more illegal migrant encounters this fiscal year than ever before by this time. Last year, a record number of 2.4 million migrants illegally crossed the border.
