National Intelligence Director Haines warns China preparing for unstable relations with U.S.

Avril Haines, the director of U.S. National Intelligence, has told Congress that China is preparing for increasingly unstable relationships with the America.

Haines gave the analysis Thursday at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.

She also said the Chinese believe the U.S. is committed to containing the communist party-led country's rise and undermining the China Communist Party’s rule.

Haines also warned that China’s support of Russia’s defense base is helping Russia gain the upper hand in the war in Ukraine.

She also said China and Russia have managed to insert malicious software operating on critical U.S. infrastructure to launch cyber attacks in the future.

Committee member Sen. Roger Wicker, a Mississippi Republican, said that “armed conflict is raging in multiple theaters,” and key U.S. adversaries are increasing their cooperation, which is “forming a new axis of evil.”
