Remains of missing Fort Hood solider Vanessa Guillén identified

The remains of Army Specialist Vanessa Guillén were positively identified on Sunday evening, according to the woman's family. They were found in a shallow grave in Texas last Tuesday.

The positive identification ends a two-month search for the young woman, 20, following her disappearance from Fort Hood in April. 

The discovery of the remains triggered a manhunt that ended when suspect Aaron Robinson, also an army specialist, killed himself as law enforcement drew near. Robinson's girlfriend has been charged with helping to dispose of Guillén's body after she was bludgeoned to death on April 22.

The young woman's family alleges that she was sexually harassed on the army base. Her tragic case has drawn attention from activists and lawmakers who believe the Army is in dire need of a better system to report instances of sexual harassment. 

The Army has not produced any leads or theories that tie Guillén's death to accusations of sexual harassment.
