Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly on Thursday night slammed former President Donald Trump on his national security record, claiming the world "laughs" at Trump.

Kelly's brief address occurred during the final night of the Democratic convention in Chicago. Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to close the convention by accepting the Democratic nomination for president.

The Arizona senator claimed that the United States would be "suckers" if they elected Trump back to the White House, mocking a report that Trump has previously referred to veterans as "suckers" and "losers" while in France. Trump has strongly denied the alleged quote.

“Trump thinks that Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice are suckers and losers. Losers,” Kelly said. “If we fall for that, again, and make him the commander-in-chief the only suckers would be us.”

The senator, who was on the shortlist to be Harris's running mate, also claimed the national security dangers the United States faces are "too great" to elect Trump, who the "world laughs at."

He further contrasted Trump's policy positions with Harris's, lauding her support for other countries.

"Vice President Harris has always championed America's support for NATO, for Ukraine and for the Ukrainian people," Kelly said.
