President Donald Trump and senior American officials met with an Iranian delegation in New York City on Tuesday, amid the backdrop of the U.S. General Assembly.

"It was a meeting that lasted for three hours," he told CSPAN. "It was a great meeting."

"In one case, it's obliteration and the other alternative is potential greatness," he said, repeating the binary choice he presented to Tehran to either make a deal or face destruction of the regime.

Earlier in the day, Trump warned he would have to choose between a deal or the "annihilation" of Iran, during his speech to the UN.

The war began in late February with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump has sought a commitment from Iran to never possess a nuclear weapon.
