Trump pulls Biden's security clearance, ending access to classified documents
"There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings."
President Donald Trump on Friday evening announced he was pulling former President Joe Biden's security clearance and ending his daily intelligence briefing, citing a precedent the former president set by ending Trump's in 2021.
Trump announced the decision in a post on Truth Social, stating that the former president was now "fired." He also cited a special counsel's report from last year that questioned Biden’s age and mental competence but did not recommend any criminal charges.
"There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information," Trump wrote. "Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.
"He set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents," he continued. "I will always protect our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED."
Former presidents frequently have access to classified documents, and life-long Secret Service protection details.
