President Donald Trump on Friday insisted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was not serious about making a peace agreement to end the war with Russia and advised him to return when he was ready to make a real agreement.

“We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure," Trump posted. "It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”

Trump's remarks followed a contentious exchange in the Oval Office between him, Zelensky, and Vice President JD Vance in which Trump insisted that Zelensky did not have the leverage he believed and Vance accused him of disrespecting the country.

Zelensky left without signing a planned mineral agreement with the United States.
