UAE commits to Trump's Gaza 'board of peace'

Under Trump's 20-point peace plan, the Board of Peace will oversee the transition from Hamas leadership of Gaza and implement the a new government.

The United Arab Emirates on Tuesday confirmed it would participate in the Gaza "board of peace" formed by President Donald Trump to oversee a transition of power in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

The UAE Foreign Ministry confirmed its planned participation in a statement, saying "His Highness [Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan] reaffirmed the UAE’s readiness to contribute actively to the mission of the Board of Peace, supporting greater cooperation, stability, and prosperity for all."

The UAE has generally been willing to engage with Trump-backed diplomatic efforts in the region and was one of the first signatories to the Abraham Accords during Trump's first term.
