U.S., Australia to cooperate to 'counter foreign state information manipulation'
The countries committed themselves to 'increased cooperation'
The U.S. and Australia have signed a cooperation agreement committing the countries "to identify and counter foreign state information manipulation."
The agreement "will set the direction for future collaboration to reduce the threat by building resiliency within civil society institutions and information ecosystems against disinformation," according to the State Department.
"By signing the [agreement], the United States and Australia advance our common determination to preserve regional and global stability, prosperity, and peace through international cooperation," the department said in a statement.
