Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week detailed the substance of his meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House, saying that they largely addressed his request for air-defense missiles.

Zelensky told Axios that he had sought an emergency "winter package" of Patriot missiles, a critical munition for shooting down Russian missiles striking Ukraine.

Trump previously indicated he was open to allowing Ukraine to receive a license to make Patriot missiles itself, but Zelensky still stressed the need for more in the short term.

Notably, his request comes at a time of renewed hostility between the U.S. in Iran, which has also seen analysts raise concerns about the depletion of the U.S.'s own stock of air-defense supplies.

Zelensky met with Trump on Tuesday, as did Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The trio of heads of state all attended the funeral of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on the same day.
