Biden to host critical solo press conference Thursday evening amid calls to drop out
The president's last solo press conference took place eight months ago in California, when he answered questions about his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Joe Biden will hold his first solo press conference since November on Thursday evening, after the conclusion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) annual summit.
The press conference comes as the president evades pressure from his own party to stop his quest for a second term in the Oval Office, after he gave a lackluster performance during the first presidential debate last month. Biden has been firm about remaining in the race, and said the debate performance was a "bad episode."
The president's last solo press conference took place eight months ago in California, when he answered questions about his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to the Associated Press. He only answered questions from four publications at the time, but answered at least a dozen questions.
His most recent joint press conference was last month during the G-7 summit in Italy.
Thursday's press conference will take place at 6:30 p.m. Eastern at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
