Biden says he received 'a list of people to call on' during critical press conference
"I'll take your questions. I've been given a list of people to call on here," President Biden said.
During President Biden's solo press conference following the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) annual summit on Thursday, he used a notecard that had a list of reporters to call on.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre referred to the press conference, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, as "a 'big boy' press conference" in reference to a Bloomberg article that used the phrase.
After giving his statement, Biden held up a notecard and said, "I'll take your questions. I've been given a list of people to call on here. Reuters, Jeff Mason."
The presser, Biden's first since eight months ago in California when he answered questions about his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, comes as the president has been pressured from members of his own party to end his campaign for reelection.
The calls followed a lackluster performance during the first presidential debate last month.
Biden has been firm about remaining in the race, and said the debate performance was a "bad episode."
