President Joe Biden reportedly told Democratic governors during a meeting this week that he needs more sleep and will not schedule events past 8 p.m.

His remarks were first reported by the New York Times, which quoted three sources.

Sources told CNN that these remarks irritated the Democratic governors during Wednesday's meeting.

The point of the meeting was to reassure Democrats that Biden still has a chance to defeat presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

After Biden's disastrous debate performance last week, some leaders in the Democratic Party have called him to step down.

However, the White House insists he is staying in the race.
