Father of fallen soldier lambasts Biden, saying he will never learn from Afghanistan debacle
"He's the exact polar opposite of a leader, in my opinion," Schmitz said, referring to President Biden.
Gold star father Mark Schmitz says President Joe Biden hasn't taken any responsibility for the Afghanistan debacle and that he hasn't learned anything from it.
"He'll never learn from his mistakes," Schmitz said in reference to Biden on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "He's proven that time and time again. He doesn't even accept responsibility for anything he did. I believe he said that what he did was an extraordinary success."
Mark's son Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz was one of the 13 soldiers that was killed in 2021 during the United States' withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The Biden administration's after-action review of the withdrawal from Afghanistan placed blame on former President Donald Trump and his administration, and asserted that President Biden's decision to leave was the correct one.
"He's the exact polar opposite of a leader, in my opinion," Schmitz continued. "You lead by example and all he does is duck and run. He won't handle anything. He won't address anything. The man's learned nothing from this."
Schmitz has started a nonprofit called The Freedom 13, which is meant to build recreational retreat camps in all 50 states to honor the soldiers that died in Afghanistan.
"These will be built on 100 acres of land with 13 houses to represent the 13 we lost, and then one additional house– so a total of 14," he said.
