Karine Jean-Pierre dodges questions about cocaine found in White House
"I'm just not going to get into specifics..."
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre avoided going into detail about the cocaine that was found in the White House last weekend.
Speaking to reporters in a press briefing on Wednesday, Jean-Pierre referred questions about the cocaine, located in a cubby area near a West Wing basement entry, to the Secret Service. She also declined to "get into specifics" about the incident.
"I'm just not going to get into specifics... I'm not going to get ahead of the Secret Service," she told one reporter.
After repeated questions, the press secretary reiterated that the White House is "not involved" in the investigation but is "confident" that the Secret Service will "get to the bottom of this."
Appearing to address rumors online that Joe Biden’s son Hunter, who has a history of drug addiction, could be the culprit, Jean-Pierre stated, "the President and the First Lady and their family were not here this weekend… they left on Friday and returned just yesterday [Tuesday]."
Her remarks come after Politico reported Wednesday that the culprit responsible for bringing the cocaine to the White House is not likely to be found.
"It’s gonna be very difficult for us to do that [find the culprit] because of where it was," a law enforcement official familiar with the probe reportedly stated.
Just the News has reached out to the White House for comment and will update this article accordingly.
The basement area where the illegal substance was found is reportedly near an entry point for White House visitors and staff.
