'Such a consequential president': Nancy Pelosi suggests putting Biden on Mount Rushmore

Reports suggest Pelosi led the charge to get Biden to step aside

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., suggested putting President Joe Biden on Mount Rushmore, calling his presidency "consequential."

Pelosi made the suggestion to CBS journalist Lesley Stahl. The suggestion came during an interview about Pelosi's role in getting Biden to drop out of the 2024 race, Fox News reported.

Pelosi denied leading the charge, instead remarking Biden was at "the top of his game" before deciding to drop out. Pelosi suggested Biden's decision to drop out merited his inclusion on Mount Rushmore.

"He was in a good place to make whatever decision – the top of his game," Pelosi told Stahl. "Such a consequential president of the United States, a Mount Rushmore kind of president of the United States."

Stahl pushed Pelosi on the suggestion: "Are you really saying that he belongs up there on Mount Rushmore? Lincoln and Joe Biden?"

"Well, you got Teddy Roosevelt up there, and he's wonderful," Pelosi responded. "I don't say take him down. But you can add Biden."
