President Donald Trump on Tuesday blamed ongoing riots in France on mass immigration, contending that the nominal rationale behind them, namely complaints about the lack of AC in schools amid a heat wave, were not the real cause of the demonstrations.

Ongoing demonstrations in Paris have devolved into confrontations with law enforcement, and video footage has shown rioters clashing with police, who have deployed tear gas.

"What’s happening in France is nothing less than out of control mass migration. This isn’t about schools, this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great Country!" he posted on Truth Social.

Viral videos of burning vehicles and rioters celebrating have attracted millions of views on social media and prompted some politicians to call for harsh discipline of the demonstrators.

"These acts deserve exemplary punishments," National Rally leader Marine Le Pen said this week.
