Trump sacks head of National Portrait Gallery over DEI

President Donald Trump on Friday announced that he had fired the director of the National Portrait Gallery over her support for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has gone on a crusade to reform certain museums by combating "divisive narratives" promoted at those museums, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress.
The president did not name a new successor for National Portrait Gallery director, but said the dismissal of Director Kim Sajet was recommended by multiple people.
“Upon the request and recommendation of many people, I am herby [sic] terminating the employment of Kim Sajet as Director of the National Portrait Gallery,” Trump posted to Truth Social. “She is a highly partisan person, and a strong supporter of DEI, which is totally inappropriate for her position. Her replacement will be named shortly."
