The White House blasted X owner and tech billionaire Elon Musk on Friday for engaging with a post on social media they denounced as antisemitic.

“It is unacceptable to repeat the hideous lie behind the most fatal act of Antisemitism in American history at any time, let alone one month after the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement, according to The Hill

This incident began on Wednesday when a Twitter user posted: "To the cowards hiding behind the anonymity of the internet and posting "Hitler was right": You got something you want to say? Why don't you say it to our faces…"

A separate user replied with, "Jewish communities have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them," to which Musk responded with, "You have said the actual truth."

Musk in the same thread also criticized the Anti-Defamation League for "unjust attacks" against western nations.

"The ADL unjustly attacks the majority of the West, despite the majority of the West supporting the Jewish people and Israel," Musk wrote. "This is because they cannot, by their own tenets, criticize the minority groups who are their primary threat. It is not right and needs to stop."

Bates added that the White House will continue to denounce antisemitism and called Musk's promotion of this post "abhorrent."

"We will continue to condemn Antisemitism at every turn," he said. "We condemn this abhorrent promotion of Antisemitic and racist hate in the strongest terms, which runs against our core values as Americans."
