White House says Fox canceled Super Bowl interview with Biden
President "was looking forward" to interview, press secretary claims.
Fox News called off a traditional pre-Super Bowl presidential interview with President Joe Biden, the White House said on Friday, though the reason for the alleged cancellation was not immediately clear.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Twitter on Friday that Biden "was looking forward to an interview with Fox Soul to discuss the Super Bowl, the State of the Union, and critical issues impacting the everyday lives of Black Americans."
Yet "we’ve been informed that Fox Corp has asked for the interview to be cancelled," she said.
For several decades presidents have sat down with whichever news network is hosting the Super Bowl for a relatively light interview.
Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump were known to consistently sit for such conversations; chief executives before them would periodically agree to the interviews.
