The widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny claims that he was poisoned with a nerve agent by President Vladimir Putin’s regime.

“We know exactly why Putin killed Alexei three days ago,” Navalny's widow Yulia Navalnaya said in a Youtube video. “We will tell you about it soon. We will definitely find out who exactly carried out this crime and how exactly. We will name the names and show the faces.”

According to the New York Post, Navalnaya accused the Putin regime of poisoning and killing her husband with a nerve agent called Novichok, and then not allowing his family to see the body.

She vowed to keep doing her husband's work, and said she would continue to fight for Russia.

“I will continue Alexei Navalny’s work. I will continue to fight for our country. And I encourage you to stand by my side,” Navalnaya said in the video.

The Kremlin has denied involvement in Navalny's death.

Navalny was serving a 19-year sentence on extremism charges.

In December he was moved from his former prison to a “special regime” penal colony – the highest security level of prisons in Russia – located above the Arctic Circle.
