One of the women interviewed in the course of a House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations of misconduct by California Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gomez is disputing that his account of their affair was "consensual."

The woman's lawyers said in a statement, according to Fox News, that Gomez's assertion that the affair was "consensual in natural," was untrue.

"We fully expect that the House Committee on Ethics will come to the same conclusion in its investigation," the lawyers said.

Gomez admitted in a statement to Fox earlier this week that he made "mistakes outside [his] marriage," following an announcement from the committee that it was launching an investigation into him for misconduct.

On Monday, Gomez said, "Although my actions were consensual in nature and haven’t violated the law or House Ethics rules, that doesn’t diminish the impact that these mistakes have made on those I care about the most."
