Dr. Anthony Fauci on Wednesday during a Senate hearing on COVID-19 invoked his constitutional right not to answer questions. 

"On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer, based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment of the constitution," Fauci repeatedly said to questions posed by Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Sen. Rand Paul.

Paul, a doctor and Kentucky Republican, continued undeterred, continuing to ask Fauci such questions about so-called gain-of-function research, which helps scientists learn about the direction of a pathogen but also brings a high risk of it becoming widespread.
