Gabbard says on last day as DNI releasing 'never-before-seen' docs linking Fauci, tax money, Wuhan
Fauci was the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during the COVID pandemic.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said Friday, on her final day on the job, said she is releasing "never-before-seen" communications and documents "exposing" how Dr. Anthony Fauci provided millions in U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab in China.
Fauci was the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic.
China has said the virus jumped from animal to human at a food market near the lab, which has also conducted so-called gain of function research, which is generally regarded as manipulating a virus to gain insight as to how it will function if mutated.
The U.S. intelligence community appears divided on how the deadly virus spread worldwide. The FBI and Energy Department assess with low-to-moderate confidence that an accidental lab leak is the most likely source. The CIA has concluded, with low confidence, it's more likely the virus had a research-related origin, than a natural one.
"I’m releasing how Dr. Fauci worked with politicized elements within the Intelligence Community to suppress the truth about his actions and hide the virus’ lab-leak origins, and lied to Congress while under oath in 2024. It’s time you know the truth," Gabbard also said in her Friday, in an X post.
