Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday backed up President Donald Trump's warning that a "civilization will die tonight" if Iran did not reach an agreement by the evening, saying the U.S. had tools it had yet to deploy to force them to the negotiating table.

“We’ve got tools in our toolkit that we so far haven’t decided to use,” Vance said. "[The president] can decide to use them, and he will decide to use them if the Iranians don't change their course of conduct."

"We feel confident we can get a response -- whether it's positive or negative -- we're gonna get a response from the Iranians by 8:00 tonight," he added. "I hope they make the right response."

Trump previously set a Tuesday evening deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face the destruction of its energy and civil infrastructure. On Tuesday morning, he warned that a "whole civilization will die tonight" if Iran did not agree to terms.

"A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will," he posted on Truth Social. "However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?"

"We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!" he added.
