President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the U.S. would pull more than 5,000 troops from Germany.

The Pentagon previously announced it would pull about 5,000 troops out of Germany.

“We’re going to cut way down. And we’re cutting a lot further than 5,000,” Trump said in Florida.

He did not elaborate on the reason for the withdrawal.

Trump has long advocated for European countries to dedicate more resources to their own defense.
