Trump signs executive order to revive portions of the Keystone XL Pipeline project
"A lot of jobs," Trump says
President Trump signed an executive order this week to revive portions of the Keystone XL pipeline that was nixed by the Biden administration.
The plan is centered on moving Canadian oil across the border.
Behind the scenes, the Canadian company South Bow had joined forces with U.S.-based Bridger Pipeline, aiming to stitch together pieces of the project that had been left unfinished.
South Bow was weighing whether to revive stretches of pipeline already laid across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Meanwhile, Bridger Pipeline is looking to construct a crude oil pipeline near the U.S.-Canada border in Montana’s Phillips County and running all the way to Guernsey, Wyoming, according to reports.
Staff Secretary Will Scharf said to Trump in the Oval Office that "this is a transborder pipeline similar to the old Keystone XL pipeline."
Trump responded, looking up from the page.
“A lot of jobs, too. A lot of jobs. OK, very good,” he said.
